Shamanic Glassblowing of Trippy Glass Art & Pipes |
|

Hello, my name is Seren Petrichor. My intention as your glassblower is to co-create some of the manifestations that may help you along your lifepath. I forge in the elements of Earth, Air and Fire. The glass I use is basically a very refined form of beach sand. It is heated to liquid form in a blend of fire, oxygen and fuel gas with full intentions of love, happiness, peace, flow and now. Please be conscious of your intentions and share your gratefulness with your universe as this hand forged piece of glass begins its journey in your story. The Earth and the Universe are open and ready to receive your intentions and gratefulness.

I fell deeply in love with the flow of glass the first time I played it with in liquid form and have made a living with it ever since. The way it droops with gravity as you heat it up and grows halos of crystalline colors as it cools has fascinated me to no end. I never really know what will end up in the kiln after a session on the torch. It is easy to start with a plan for the night, but what is actually created typically follows its own unique path. When I open the kiln the next morning, it is always a bundle of light and joy to ogle at in the sunlight. Thanks to people like you supporting online artists, I am able to share this passion with the world!

One of the first influences on my art was a zookeeper position with a small zoo in Oklahoma that allowed me to attend classes in a local university. I graduated with a degree in Archeology some years later and ended up working at Disney World, then onto be an Aquarist in Texas and Colorado. After that it was off to Virginia to join the Americorps and build houses for a year with Habitat for Humanity. From there I was awarded an year long glassblowing apprenticeship in Texas. This has ultimately led me to settle in the mountains of North Carolina and to build my own custom studio space overlooking the beauty of our planet. This setting has allowed me to find a balance within nature and the intense energy of glassblowing. My glass tends to be very organic with a divine inner harmony of colors and textures. A mystical blend of tribal shamanism, the wonder of childhood bliss, flow dynamics and fantastical creatures from not only near and far, but also inner and outer worlds.

Currently, I mostly work with borosilicate, which is referred to as hard glass. In my creations I use blends of glass from Northstar Glassworks, Pyrex (Corning), Simax, Schott, Momka, Trautman, Parramore, Origin and Glass Alchemy. My pieces are lampworked by hand and each and every one is unique. I attempt to describe each and every piece as accurately as possible. If you have any questions about my glassware, please feel free to contact me below!
